MEXICO CITY, September 9 (EL UNIVERSAL).- Mexican national team defender César Montes is not in the mix for Tuesday’s game against Canada, as he will travel to Russia to sign a contract with Lokomotiv Moscow.
“El Cachorro” decided to take advantage of the FIFA date to present himself to the European club and pass the medical exams immediately, since the summer transfer market will close on Thursday, September 12, two days after Mexico’s last friendly this month.
A couple of days ago, El Tri’s technical director, Javier “Vasco” Aguirre, authorized the departure of the current player from Almería in Spain, who will be replaced by Víctor Guzmán in the national team.
“We are there managing the timing of the medical exam, the visa and such. In Russia the transfer market is closing these days, so I have authorized him, he has asked me, he wants to be 100% with the national team, but after this first match I have authorized him to leave the training camp to close with the Russian team and continue his career in the Old Continent.
“He hasn’t had much activity in his Spanish team and there is a big and important opportunity to go to Russian football. He wants to continue in Europe, he wants to keep playing,” said “El Vasco” in a press conference.
