César 2020: Roman Polanski awarded three times … Adèle Haenel and others leave the room “very upset”

The César ceremony takes place against a backdrop of controversy, with the Polanski case in mind.

The César for Best Adaptation was awarded to Roman Polanski and Robert Harris for “J’accuse”. Jean-Pierre Darroussin, who was to present the award, pretended to be strangled by pronouncing the names of the director and the film.

No one, however, went on stage. The team of “J’accuse” having decided not to go to the ceremony, nobody came to recover the statuette.

Roman Polanski also received the César for best achievement for “J’accuse”. Very few people applauded and some even left the room like Adèle Haenel, obviously very upset. Other people, including Céline Sciamma, followed him by shouting “What a shame!”.

At the end of this ceremony, the film I accuse by Roman Polanski will therefore have received three awards: best direction, best adaptation and best costumes.
