AMD unveiled new Ryzen 7040 laptop processors at CES 2023 that will compete with the yet-to-be-released M1 Pro chip and M2.
The flagship processor AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS has 8 cores, 16 threads and a frequency of 5.2GHz. The company claims that it is 30% faster than the M1 Pro.
In multiprocessor workloads, the Ryzen 9 7940HS is 34% faster than the M1 Pro and 20% faster than the M2 in AI workloads. How the results compared to M2, which has not yet been released, AMD did not specify.
All Ryzen 7040 series processors are made with 4nm process technology. The company claims that ultrabooks with Ryzen 7040 will run for 30 hours when playing video.
