CES 2024 is drawing to a close, and while we’ve seen a lot, and by that I mean lot , of tech news over the past week, we’ve managed to pick out the best news that stood out to us, and we’ll also explain why they should stand out to you too.
LG’s transparent TV.
Kicking off our list is perhaps the most confusing device shown off at CES this year, as it appears to be the only TV that wants to be turned off. We say this because that’s obviously when the LG SIGNATURE OLED T looks most impressive, as you can see through the entire device to see what’s on the other side. The technology and science behind it is undoubtedly impressive, but we’re not sure who it’s intended for.
With an estimated price tag of tens of thousands of pounds, if not more, the see-through TV isn’t going to turn up at your mate’s house anytime soon, but sometimes it’s worth pushing the boundaries just for fun. In a perfect world, companies would do more of these weird things, if only to see how people react. It is also worth noting that this is the first wireless TV.

RTX
40 GPUs will be great
.
As expected, Nvidia has unveiled the upgrades to its line of RTX 40 cards. Both the 4080, 4070 Ti and 4070 get new, super powerful versions, and it didn’t take long before well-known manufacturers such as ASUS and Gigabyte showed off their versions of the cards.
It looks like we’ll get a nice jump in performance for a similar price point for each of the cards that gets a Super version. Whether this is enough to make the computer manufacturers change their attitude towards Nvidia is uncertain, but as the market leader in graphics cards, we cannot imagine that they will suffer for long.

Samsung keeps the ball rolling
In 2020, we got to see Ballie for the first time, Samsung’s robot which is designed to be both a home assistant, a pet and a football player. But it’s probably a waste to send Ballie screaming towards the goal, because four years later, Samsung has shown how much the little robot has improved.
Now it is equipped with a projector that can transform almost any surface into a screen. It has also become a much smarter home assistant, which can control lights and pet feeders if they also have the necessary technology. Ballie looks like he’s going to be quite the companion, although it’s probably still years before we can get our hands on him.
MSI encourages adultery.
Okay, the headline is probably a bit strong, but it seems that MSI has decided to give us an accessory that will give us an extreme advantage in our games. The MPG 321URX QD-OLED is – like most displays – a mixture of letters and numbers that tell you very little about what you can expect from the accessories you buy.
AI is the key word here, something we saw a lot of at CES 2024, as it allows the screen to learn from our gaming habits, and it can also scan enemies on a minimap, tell the player where they come from, as well as how strong they are and other details. Some will probably call this map hacking, but maybe this is just the future of gaming.
A motorcycle that can see
Motorcycles are by far one of the most dangerous ways to travel between different destinations, but Verge Motorcycles will do something about it. The upcoming TS Ultra bicycle will be equipped with a number of sensors and cameras which, in conjunction with machine learning and artificial intelligence, will give the bicycle an effective “sense of sight”.
Why do you want this? The aim of the function is to provide the driver with information and data that makes riding a motorcycle smarter and safer. And as if this feature and riding wasn’t cool enough, the TS Ultra has a rimless rear wheel, which will undoubtedly make Tron fans grin from ear to ear.
Claaaaaw
MSI has finally jumped on the latest trend in gaming hardware: laptop gaming. They’re doing so with a device called the Claw, which is a Meteor Lake-powered handheld platform that uses the company’s proprietary Cooler Boost technology to keep it ice-cold while rendering and playing the latest titles.
The system has a touch-sensitive Full HD screen with 120 Hz and a size of seven inches, and can also play both PC and Android titles. The biggest downside seems to be that the 53 Whr battery only lasts for two hours under maximum load, but otherwise this looks to be a strong contender in the laptop gaming sector.
Musical Mercedes
Have you ever been driving and thought about how you could use the time on the highway to direct the next big power ballad? In that case, Mercedes-Benz’s collaboration with Will.i.am undoubtedly piqued your interest. The car giant has teamed up with the former Black Eyed Peas star to offer the MBUX Sound Drive system for a number of Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG cars.
The idea behind the system is that, with the help of software and sensors, it keeps an eye on signals in the car to create musical expressions that can be used both to create suitable rhythms that affect the driver and passengers, and to create musical elements that can be assembled into actual compositions. It all seems very niche, but fascinating nonetheless.

Available aviation?
As we move ever closer to a carbon-neutral world without fossil fuels, many will point to the aviation sector. Hyundai wants to get ahead of this by working on a new air transport system that is electrically powered and designed to offer travel solutions for shorter journeys of between 25 and 40 kilometers.
The project is called SA VTOL, and after the first edition was presented at CES in 2020, the S-A2 has been presented this year. Although Hyundai still has to go through a series of safety and passenger certifications, and considering there’s no mention of how accessible this air transport will be to the masses, there are still plenty of questions to be answered before the project’s planned debut in 2028. But with considering that it should have room for a pilot and four passengers and even be as quiet as a dishwasher when it flies, it is an exciting premise anyway.
