Cervi and the exit to Celta: «I tried to keep calm so I wouldn’t go crazy»

After five seasons at Benfica, Franco Cervi moved to Celta de Vigo. In the official presentation as a reinforcement of the Galician emblem, the Argentine confirmed that he was close to heading to the Balaídos in January and confessed to having been away from the negotiations to “not go crazy.”

«I believed that the transfer could happen in January, but then the contagion situation happened [surto de covid-19 na equipa do Benfica]. My manager was the one who was most aware of everything that was happening this summer. I wanted to know how things were going, but at the same time I tried to keep calm so I wouldn’t go crazy. In the end, the transfer was all closed and I’m glad to be here. The rest is already behind”, he said, at a press conference.

The 27-year-old admitted that the fact that Coudet, the coach with whom he worked at Rosario Central, coached Celta de Vigo, had a bearing on the decision to move to the Spanish League.

“The truth is that Coudet was very important in moving here. He spoke to me in December when I was about to come and then pushed for it to happen this summer. I’m very happy and now I have to think about working to help the team, which is the most important thing», he said.

Cervi played a total of 131 games for the eagles and won five titles, including Leagues, Cups and Super Cups.
