Crypto security platform CertiK Alert reported that a transaction related to the Sreadefi attack identified an external account depositing 100 ETH worth nearly $185,000 into Tornado Cash.
Tornado Cash is a mixer that allows users to mask their transaction details and earnexcommunicatedby the US Department of the Treasury As of August 2022
The CertiK platform states that the account still has 424 ETH, worth $786,000, despite depositing some amount into Tornada Cash.
Steadefi, a DeFi platform.hackedAs of Monday, August 7, 2023, it lost at least $1.14 million in assets, putting the platform’s funds at risk.
After the attack, the Steadefi platform sent information to the hacker’s wallet address to negotiate, offering 10% of the stolen money in return.
The Steadefi platform announced that it will take no action if the hacker complies with the proposal by 8:00 am UTC on Thursday, August 10, 2023.
Steadefi threatened that if the hackers did not cooperate The hacker’s bounty will be publicly announced, which will provide a bigger reward. Those who cooperate until being able to catch the hacker will receive a reward.
On Tuesday, August 8, Steadefi said it had successfully recovered approximately $418,000 of user funds. It also said it had notified security authorities to monitor hacker movements both on-chain and off-chain.
Hackers attacked Steadefi’s protocol, which maintains all vaults in the protocol, allowing them to transfer all funds in the vault to their wallet.
