Certa Stampa – ANOTHER 14 THOUSAND EUROS (of our money) SPENT BY THE MUNICIPALITY TO PAY FOR DAMAGES AND FALLS CAUSED BY THE HOLES

Published: October 23, 2024

The first requested “…compensation for the injuries sustained following the fall caused by the uneven flooring”.
The second requested “…compensation for the damage suffered by his car following the disconnection of a stretch of public road in the Municipality of Teramo”.
The third requested “…compensation for the injuries sustained following the fall caused by the road damage“.
Total: 14,300 euros.
Our money, the citizens of Teramo, spent once again to remedy the damage caused by the terrible maintenance of the municipal roads.
At this point, you may be wondering why citizens have to pay, doesn’t the Municipality have insurance?
Of course you have it, but stipulated with a deductible of maximum 9 thousand euros.
To be clearer: all the damage caused by bad roads is paid by the Municipality up to 9 thousand euros, beyond that sum the insurance intervenes.
The problem is that a fall can hardly cause damage exceeding 9 thousand euros, but at least it saves us from greater trouble, given that in one of the three “accidents” compensated, probably that of the car that ended up off-road, the damage was 28 thousand euros , of which 9 thousand paid by the Municipality.
In fact, the total amount of trouble caused by the bad asphalt was over 33 thousand euros.
In defining the compensation, the Municipality chose the path of agreement, to avoid a legal case which, as stated in the resolution itself: «… could hardly be resolved favorably for this administration, since no circumstances were found such as to suggest that the event is due to fortuitous chance.”
In other words: it’s definitely the Municipality’s fault, we just pay.
…and the potholes increase.
