Help at home for disabled and elderly people with personal hygiene
(mi-lorenteggio.com) Ceriano Laghetto, 6 November 2024 – The municipal council has approved the regulation which also establishes in Ceriano Laghetto the “SAD”, Home Assistance Service, which became mandatory by law in 2022 and included among the essential levels of social benefits.
The service will be provided to those entitled to apply, after appropriate screening by social services operators and following presentation and acceptance of the PAI, Individualized Assistance Project. The services will be guaranteed by specialized personnel of the cooperatives accredited with the Seregno Area to which the Municipality of Ceriano Laghetto refers which can be paid by users through the social vouchers assigned by the Municipality.
The SAD provides coordinated services for the time necessary to overcome the conditions that determined the state of need.
In particular, the personal care assistance services provided directly to the patient are divided into personal hygiene and care and assisted bathing. The services are provided continuously, from Monday to Friday from 7am to 8pm. As specified by the regulation, “the accommodation capacity of the SAD is sized based on the annual availability of the municipal budget: access is regulated by a specific ranking”.
At the same city council meeting, the first funds were made available, taken from the 2024 reserve fund, to be able to start the service, which is already behind schedule compared to the law.
“In June, after taking office, I discovered that the SAD was non-existent in our municipality” – underlined in her speech the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Social Services, Francesca Sulis. “Yet, the law includes it among the essential levels of social benefits. I am proud of the changes introduced in the budget to activate this much-needed new service. Let’s go in the direction of guaranteeing the weakest, the most fragile and leaving no one behind.”
The regulation establishing the SAD service was approved unanimously by the city council.
