The main author was quickly identified on the video images of the Cergy-Préfecture station district. The police recognized the one who is suspected of having stabbed another man and arrested him this Thursday morning, a few hours after the assault committed Wednesday evening at Cergy-Préfecture station. Two other people were also arrested in connection with the investigation.
The facts took place around 9 p.m. In circumstances that the investigation will have to determine with certainty, a 38-year-old man was seriously injured by a stabbing weapon. Alerted, the emergency services took charge of the victim, providing him with first aid on the spot. The Samu team noted a bleeding wound of about ten centimeters located on the left part of the thorax, probably caused by a knife. The victim, whose vital prognosis was then engaged, was transported by the emergency services to the Bichat hospital in Paris, in absolute urgency.
The suspect identified thanks to video surveillance
Cergy urban security investigators, in charge of the investigation, were able to view the station’s video surveillance images and thus identify the suspect. The report of this 33-year-old man was immediately disseminated throughout the Val-d’Oise. He was arrested shortly after 7 a.m., in his district of Cergy-Saint-Christophe, before being taken into police custody as part of an open procedure for attempted homicide.
Investigators also arrested on Thursday the driver of the Skoda in which the suspect had left the station area after the fact. A driver found in the underground car park of Cergy-Préfecture station by the police, who also got hold of a hunting rifle and a ceramic knife in the vehicle. Investigators seeking to know if this is the weapon used the day before. The brother of the main suspect, who knew he was wanted for his alleged involvement in the events, also went to the Cergy police station where he was taken into police custody.
The precise circumstances of the facts as their origin were however not determined this Thursday by the investigation. The hearing of the victim, which should take place soon given the improvement in his state of health, could shed light on the course of events in the coming hours.
Two stabbing attacks in Gonesse and Sarcelles
This stabbing attack is not isolated. On Wednesday evening in Gonesse, a young man of 17 was also injured in a similar way. He was taken care of by firefighters shortly before 8 p.m. Place Henri-Matisse. He had a three-centimeter wound near the left armpit. He was hospitalized in Gonesse. His vital prognosis was not engaged. However, he refused to explain to the police the circumstances of the assault of which he had been the victim.
The day before, in Sarcelles, around 6 p.m., the police had also intervened for a 21-year-old young man injured in a fight with a stabbing weapon. This took place at Place Camille-Saint-Saëns. The Samu team transported the victim who had a 5 cm wound in the lower back to the hospital in Gonesse. The Sarcelles police officers responsible for the investigation were able to view the video images of the equipment of a business and use them to understand the unfolding of the facts.
