“I have played for many teams during my career, but playing for the Mets was very special to me,” Colón said in a statement collected by MLB.com.
The Mets organization will officially retire the pitcher on September 17, the date on which they will commemorate the career of ‘Big Sexy’They will also be giving away 15,000 t-shirts for the fans who attend the event.
“The fans treated me phenomenally and I can’t wait to celebrate my career with them,” Bartolo said.
The ‘Big Sexy’ also wore team shirts such as Cleveland Indians (now Guardians), Los Angeles Angels, Oakland Athletics, Chicago White Sox, Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees y Montreal Expos (ahora Washington Nationals).
