CEO Honor Zhao Ming Mocks Apple’s Lack of Innovation at MWC Shanghai Event

Jakarta

CEO Honor Zhao Ming hurled ridicule at Apple again. This time, he said that the company created by Steve Jobs lacked innovation.

This was conveyed by Ming while speaking at the MWC Shanghai event. Initially he said the smartphone industry was being held back by a lack of innovation.

Then Ming immediately mentioned Apple as one of the companies that always faces innovation obstacles every year. An example is the Dynamic Island feature embedded in the iPhone 14 Pro.

According to him, this feature is the result of copying the Smart Capsule in the Honor V20. This phone was released in 2019, or three years before the iPhone 14 Pro was launched.

Ming boasted that Honor was the first to introduce the idea. The difference is that the Smart Capsule on the Honor V20 is placed in the upper left corner and only displays the call duration.

However, while Apple’s Dynamic Island may not be a new idea, they have tweaked it to make it work better and become a standout feature. On the other hand, Honor didn’t focus too much on the Smart Capsule when the Honor V20 launched.

Previously, Ming said that the iPhone had low specifications, old school design, poor signal reception and low battery life.

Ming also threw his ambitious plan to beat iOS. Namely by allocating large funds for research and development.

According to him, Honor’s spending on research and development in 2022 has reached 10% of their total income. This vendor from China is also focused on building a broad ecosystem to challenge its competitors, not only Apple, but also Huawei, which has HarmonyOS.
