CEO Explains GoTo’s Trigger Loss of Up to IDR 6.6 T

Jakarta

PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) is still experiencing losses until the first quarter of 2022. The technology issuer’s recorded loss rose to Rp 1.95 trillion.

As quoted detik.com, Friday (3/6/2022), in its unaudited interim consolidated financial statements, GoTo recorded a loss for the current period in the first quarter of 2022 of Rp 6.61 trillion. That number increased compared to the same period last year.

Owned Assets GoTo recorded at Rp 151.13 trillion in the first quarter of 2022. These assets are down when compared to the same period last year of Rp 155.13 trillion.

GoTo’s total liabilities are IDR 16.61 trillion. Liabilities increased compared to the same period the previous year of Rp 16.11 trillion.

Next, total equity was recorded at Rp 134.52 trillion, down from the previous Rp 139.02 trillion. Net income was recorded at Rp 1.49 trillion. This figure is up from the same period last year of Rp 904.83 billion.

Causes of Swollen GoTo Loss

GoTo CEO Andre Soelistyo said it was a loss GoTo rose sharply because the comparative data for the first quarter of 2021 financial statements were presented without Tokopedia. He said, Gojek only officially joined Tokopedia in May 2021, so he said, comparing GoTo’s performance in the first quarter of 2022 with the first quarter of 2021 is not quite right.

“This is not appropriate because the financial statements of PT GoTo Gojek, Tokopedia and its subsidiaries for the first quarter of 2021 are presented without Tokopedia, because the merger of Gojek and Tokopedia was only completed in May 2021,” he said at a press conference.

“So to describe the business apple to apple It would be more appropriate to use pro forma financial reports,” he added.
