A man has been charged with the murder of Gillian Curran, 47, in Waterford city yesterday morning. Marcus O’neill, 34, of O’Brien Street in Waterford was brought before a special sitting of Gorey District Court last night. Detective Sergeant Mick Bourke of Waterford Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution. Det Sgt Bourke told the court that he arrested Mr O’Neill at 5.04pm and formally charged him at 6pm, and that Mr O’Neill made no reply after caution. Judge Kevin Staunton remanded Mr O’Neill in custody to appear in court again in Waterford District Court via video link tomorrow.
