The head of the Pharmacists Syndicate, Joe Salloum, underlined that “the situation of the pharmaceutical sector is similar to that of all economic sectors that suffer under the weight of the hardship”, underlining that “there is a shortage of medicines and prices are linked at the dollar price and at the index issued by the Ministry of Health”.
Salloum revealed, in an interview with Voice of All Lebanon, that “in the light of the great crisis and the citizens’ impossibility to find milk for children and medicines for cancer patients, next Thursday we will hold a very important meeting with the union forces and unions with the aim of appealing to officials and asking them to elect a president for the republic. “Form an effective government immediately and take serious steps to save the sectors”.
Furthermore, he warned that “in the event that these requests are not followed, there will be escalation measures to be announced later, including the closure of pharmacies, which are essentially empty of most medicines, and the implementation of actions on the ground .”
