Central Defender Diomande to Join Ivorian National Team for CAN, Missing Portimão Match

Central entered the pre-summoned squad for CAN, but, as A BOLA knows, it will still be the Lions’ option on the visit to Portimão scheduled for the 30th.

Diomande is (unsurprisingly…) part of the list of 53 pre-summoned by the Ivory Coast coach, Jean Louis Gasset, for the CAN, which will be played… at home, from January 13th to February 11th. It is already known that Rúben Amorim will be without the central defender in January, but for now, as A BOLA found out, the Ivorian is ordered to present himself later and thus be an option for the duel scheduled with Portimonense, on 30, game that closes the year 2023.

Diomande is crossed out of Rúben Amorim’s accounts in January due to his participation in CAN

It is, therefore, one less setback for Rúben Amorim who, remember, has Coates and St. Juste injured, while Gonçalo Inácio will be suspended. Good news that he joins Morita, also leaving for the Asian Cup in January, but who will make his farewell in Portimão, joining the Japanese delegation on the 4th or 5th of January. Diomande, in turn, could even start the preparation against… Geny Catamo. This is because Ivory Coast has scheduled a private meeting, on January 6th, against Mozambique, a team that, remember, has one of its main figures in the Lions winger.
