On the other hand, the total balance of the Algerian balance of payments increased during the year 2022, recording a surplus of $18.47 billion compared to a deficit of $1.48 billion the previous year, according to data from the Bank of Algeria.
The report said that the level of foreign exchange reserves in the country rose to $60.99 billion last year, with the volume of loans directed to the economy increasing by 3.3 percent, compared to a decrease of 12.4 percent in 2021.
However, the report noted that inflationary pressures, especially those arising from imports, remain, which constitutes a major challenge in the short and medium term.
