The Health Office of Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, provides education and socialization on HIV/AIDS prevention to students and the community.
“We are preventing HIV/AIDS by providing education to students and outreach to the general public,” said the Head of the Central Bangka Health Service Dr. Anas Maaruf in Koba, Sunday.
He said this was in response to the discovery of 12 cases of HIV/AIDS in the area throughout 2022, with details of seven men and five women.
“HIV/AIDS sufferers with an age range of 24 to 50 years are on average caused by promiscuous behavior,” said Anas.
According to him, the 12 cases found in 2022 are a combination of old cases and new cases.
“Meanwhile, in 2023, there will be no additional cases and we will focus on providing medicine to people affected by HIV/AIDS and we will also carry out monitoring for risky areas,” he said.
He said that his party provided medical assistance to people with HIV / AIDS.
“Medicines for people with HIV / AIDS, we help,” he said.
He hopes that in the future all parties will play a role in educating the public regarding the dangers of HIV/AIDS.
“Everyone must play a role, both parents at home and community leaders in providing understanding and education to the community,” he said.
