Central Bangka Health Office records 93 dengue cases

Koba, Babel (ANTARA) – The Health Service of Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, until November 2021 recorded 93 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).

“As of November 2021, there were 93 cases of dengue fever, four patients were declared dead,” said the Head of P2P of the Central Bangka Health Service, Zaitun in Koba, Monday.

Zaitun explained that the number of cases in 2021 showed a graph of an increase compared to the previous year which only recorded 85 cases.

“The increase in cases is due to weather conditions that trigger the breeding of mosquitoes carrying dengue outbreaks,” he said.

He said the deaths occurred due to delays in medical treatment.

“Patients are often late to check their health at the nearest health facility, that is also the cause,” he said.

The Central Bangka Health Office recorded that there were three sub-districts with the highest cases of DHF, namely Pangkalanbaru, Lubuk Besar, and Sungaiselan.

“DHF cases often occur in densely populated areas,” he said.
