A volunteer fighter from Northern Ostrobothnia Ville Mykkänen died on the Ukrainian front, the War Veterans Association says.
According to the association, 26-year-old Mykkänen died in the Luhansk region at the beginning of August.
Mükkä is touchingly remembered in the text distributed by the association.
According to the association, the relatives of a Finn who fell on the front hope that Mykkänen’s memory will live on forever with the text.
– Even at a young age, he wanted to influence important issues and increase justice in the world, the text says.
– The years-long journey started from politics and continued to the decision to join the military in Ukraine at the end of autumn 2023.
Apparently the fifth fallen Finn
The text describes how a “young giddy-head” matured into a “principled man”. Mykkänen is said to have fallen “in merciless battles at the front”.
– Mykkänen was deeply patriotic and respected the feats of past generations. He had a strong will to defend a free nation, the publication describes.
Mykkänen used the battle name “Flurry” at the front. He is reportedly the fifth Finnish volunteer fighter to fall on the Ukrainian front.
Mykkänen has served, among other things, as chairman of the North Ostrobothnia district of Central Youth.
