Center Neemias Queta has signed a two-way deal with the Celtics, according to renowned insider Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Queta played three seasons at Utah State before Sacramento selected him 39th overall in the 2021 draft. He spent his first two professional seasons with the Kings, appearing in a total of 20 NBA games and averaging 7.5 minutes per game. .
Although his role with the Kings was low-key, Queta stood out in the G League with their affiliate team in Stockton. In the 2022/23 season, he earned a spot on the All-NBAGL First Team and placed second in Most Valuable Player (MVP) voting. He averaged 16.8 points per game, 8.7 rebounds per game, 2.4 assists and 1.9 blocks per game in 27.7 minutes per game in a total of 29 regular season appearances for the Stockton Kings.
Queta, who is the first NBA player to come from Portugal, was a restricted free agent this summer. He ultimately signed a two-year, partially guaranteed contract to return to the Kings, but was released this week after the team signed JaVale McGee to a guaranteed contract.
