CENDA closes its series “Legacy of President Allende Today”, on the fiftieth anniversary of his immolation, with an extraordinary master class and conversation by lawyer Joan Garcés, Alternative Nobel Peace Prize winner and former advisor to President Allende, whom it orders to leave La Moneda on fire to “tell what has happened here.”
Joan Garcés has fully fulfilled the mission entrusted to him by dedicating his life to this duty of loyalty, contributing perhaps more than anyone in milestones of international justice as decisive as Pinochet’s imprisonment in London, his conviction for corruption in the Riggs Bank case, whose million-dollar compensation was distributed in full to the victims of imprisonment and torture registered by the Valech Commission, and the State of Chile was ordered to compensate the owners of Diario Clarín, a ruling that remains pending to be fulfilled to this day.
The personalities invited to the previous sessions of the CENDA series participate in the conversation, which addressed the main aspects of the gigantic and imperishable work carried out by this government that over a thousand days led the Chilean Revolution in its deployed phase, in a pioneering manner. through an impeccably democratic, legal and singularly peaceful channel, opening the way to the modern era in this small and distant American country.
