EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO. – APEC Distance Education Centers (Cenapec), in agreement with Major League Baseball (MLB), have a training program for young prospects, which will allow them to complete high school and break some social stereotypes.

This was confirmed by the president of Cenapec, Harold Molina Boggiano, when he visited Persio Maldonado, director of El Nuevo Diario, where he confirmed that this program will be carried out in agreement with the MLB Soccer Academies, which is based in the Dominican Republic. .

He explained that this program is intended for them to be able to complete their high school diploma while fulfilling all their sports obligations.

Classes are taught virtually or indoors, and in the latter the tutors go to the academies, to cover a schedule of 4 hours a week.

With the educational project, dozens of athletes are trained, who do not always have time to study in the usual way in search of the dream of reaching the major leagues.

The entity works with around 16 academies, which represent 50% of those in the country; for 16 years and until now it offers its academic program to most of them.

“With Major League and the academies, we have a good relationship because they have really emphasized the program,” said Molina Boggiano.

MLB Ratings

During the graduation of the 2022-2023 class, which took place in February this year, MLB management indicated that through this program, athletes from Major League academies are allowed to obtain a Bachelor’s degree, as long as they ‘ training to become professional football players.

So far, Cenapec has joined the graduation of the New York Mets, Kansas City Royal, Los Dodgers, Los Piratas and New York Yankees academies.

With this program, the institution gives them an education in their own place so that they can develop in other areas, in case they cannot achieve their goal in this sport.
