Libreville, February 9, 2024 (AGP) – Central African Yvon Sana Bangui was appointed as the new governor of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) on Friday February 9, 2024, international media report.
He was appointed head of this sub-regional institution during the extraordinary session of the conference of heads of state of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), bringing together Cameroon, Central Africa, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Chad, which was held by videoconference.
Yvon Sana Bangui replaces the Chadian Abbas Mahamat Tolli in this position, who arrived at the end of his term on February 6.
His appointment as head of the BEAC is not accidental. According to the principle of rotation of positions within community institutions, the turn fell to a Central African national. In addition, he would have benefited from the support of the Central African head of state Faustin Archange Touadera.
The new governor of the BEAC has 19 years of professional experience within the institution where he contributed to the implementation of certain reforms, including the management of the National Treasury Single Accounts, the reform of monetary programming in the zone CEMAC, the overhaul of the CEMAC Banking Risk Center.
Born on May 25, 1974, this 49-year-old engineer and economist is from the Lobaye region. Trained in Morocco and France, he holds a bac+4 in applied mathematics, a DESS in computer science and telecommunications, as well as two masters in economics and public management. He joined the BEAC in 2005 and will gradually occupy several positions including that of central director of accounting, budget and management control.
