We were expecting the Celtics and the Magic for a transfer of Terrence Ross but the two franchises have (for now?) concluded a small exchange without the winger.
ESPN announces that Boston is sending PJ Dozier and Bol Bol, as well as a second round of Draft and cash to Orlando, against a simple second round of Draft.
Both players are injured, will not return this season and will be free this summer. The leaders of the Celtics, who want to save money to avoid paying the “luxury tax”, can thus part with their contracts: 1.9 million dollars for Dozier and 2.1 million for Bol Bol.
It is therefore a purely economic maneuver on the part of Brad Stevens. On the Orlando side, the leaders are forced to cut two players. E’Twaun Moore is the first and Michael Carter-Williams is the second.
The Celtics are trading PJ Dozier and Bol Bol, a future second and cash to the Magic for a future second-round pick, sources tell ESPN. Dozier and Bol are both out for the season. Cost-savings for Boston.
