The Boston Celtics defeated the Toronto Raptors 92:87 at the end of the dramatic seventh match on Friday, forcing the Canadian club to relinquish the powers of the National Basketball Society.
At the start of the game, Toronto defender Norman Powell had a chance to draw, but his throw from the bottom of the basket was blocked by Marcus Smarts. In the next attack, one of the Raptors’ leaders, Bald Laurie, earned a sixth note. Toronto coach Nick Ners challenged the whistle, but the referees’ decision remained valid.
Grants Williams missed both penalties, after a while Teitums hit only one, but Fred Vanvlit did not hit a long shot. Kemba Walker was twice out of the penalty line eight seconds before the end, reaching 92:87.
In favor of Boston, Jason Tite scored 29, Jane Brown 21 points. Toronto team Fred Vanvlit 20 points and Kail Laurijs 16 points.
In the final of the Eastern Conference, the Celtics will meet with the Miami Heat.
