New York, Nov 10 (EFE).- The Boston Celtics debuted this Friday in the NBA In-Season Tournament, the NBA’s first experiment with the cup format during the regular season, with a comfortable 121-107 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics, who recovered after two straight losses (6-2 now in the regular season), had Jaylen Brown (28 points) and Jayson Tatum (23 points and 10 rebounds) as top scorers. Jrue Holiday stayed also on the verge of a triple-double (13 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists). Dominican Al Horford missed the game with Boston due to rest. The Celtics have another game this Saturday, also at home but this time against the Toronto Raptors. For their part, the Nets (4-5) were missing the injured Cam Thomas, who had started this campaign with an excellent level of scoring, and they had Lonnie Walker (20 points and 7 rebounds) as their offensive reference. Brown, who had just scored 11 points against the Philadelphia 76ers (106-103 loss), entered the game with great strength and excelled with 12 points in the first quarter. Those in green threatened to break the game from the beginning, but a run of 0-9 allowed the Nets not to say goodbye to the game before time (38-33). Brown continued scoring and reached the break with 21 points, but the second period was Tatum’s, who had not scored in the first quarter and who shone with 13 points. The Celtics had a maximum advantage of +17 before the intermission, but the New Yorkers, with an important contribution from Walker’s bench, remained within a manageable margin (66-54). That dynamic continued in the restart, with the Celtics looking much superior and flirting with +20 while the Nets managed not to throw in the towel (93 -84 before the last quarter). In any case, Joe Mazzulla’s team did not let off the accelerator and avoided any surprise from Brooklyn in the outcome. (c) Agencia EFE
