The band “Celtic Tree” celebrates its 15th anniversary with an “Irish Night”. The open-air concert will take place on August 25th in the »Beim Udo« beer garden in Fellingshausen.

Biebertal (whk). “We want the audience to share in our joy in music and people should forget their everyday worries for a few hours,” states the band leader of the “Celtic Tree” music formation Siobhán Prendergast.

“Celtic Tree” – they play Irish and Scottish Folk and Folkrock – are celebrating their 15th anniversary with an open-air concert, an “Irish Night” in the beer garden of the country inn Zum Dünsberg “Beim Udo” in Fellingshausen on Friday, April 25th Aug. The concert starts at 8 p.m. (admission from 7 p.m.).

250 performances

If the weather is bad, the concert will take place in the hall of the country inn. For the sustenance is provided. There is also Guinness on tap. Admission costs EUR 15 in advance (at the »Zum Dünsberg« country inn) and EUR 18 at the box office.

“We deliberately chose Fellingshausen at the foot of the Dünsberg, because the area around Biebertal’s local mountain was once home to the Celts,” says Prendergast. »Celtic-Tree« has also played on the site of the Keltentor in Krumbacher Kreuz.

It all started in August 2008. At that time, John Morell was looking for a singer to perform at the »Laubacher Festival of Lights«. Siobhán helped out. At first it was only supposed to be one year. But it became more. Six years ago, Ed Westerdale (violin) joined the duo of Siobhán Prendergast (vocals, tin whistle, shaker, animation), John Morell (vocals, guitar). Peter Herrmann (bass guitar) from Krumbach also plays in »Celtic Tree« from time to time.

Sabine Raatz-Bernhard recently enriched the musical round of »Celtic Tree« with her accordion. She also plays in »Fern der Heimat«.

Before Ed Westerdale, Norbert Völker from Darmstadt held the part of the violinist.

In the meantime »Celtic Tree« has been on stage 250 times. The formation plays at many events such as their own concerts, weddings, company celebrations, birthday parties, business openings, city festivals in Marburg, Gießen, and performances in Wetzlar are also recorded. There are also appearances in the guest house “Am Kirchlein” in Krumbach, in the Vogelsberg, Grünberg and also in the country inn “Zum Dünsberg” in Fellingshausen. On special occasions, bagpipe player Marco Kreissl joins “Celtic-Tree”.

Siobhán, whose home is in Connemara in the west of Ireland, has always enjoyed singing at home. She managed the “Irish Pub” in Giessen for seven and a half years. Bands that consisted only of men performed here. A friend once got her to sing along, accompanied by a violinist, bassist and drummer. “We still saw potential,” Siobhán Prendergast recalls. John Morell’s homeland is Scotland. This is how a special “Irish-Scottish temperament” comes into the band “Celtic Tree”. – The fans know and appreciate that the humor in the varied exchanges of words at the concerts is not neglected and that Siobáhn in particular creates a good atmosphere in the auditorium with her uncomplicated and down-to-earth charisma.

By the way: Siobhán Prendergast also plays in the rock-pop duo »2-Do«.
