Mick McCarthy is a candidate to replace Neil Lennon at Celtic and Cardiff City captain Sean Morrison has praised the remarkable impact he has had on South Wales, speaking to talkSPORT (March 3, 12:00 pm) .
Much life remains in the barking Barnsley Hound.
And while they say you can’t teach old dogs new tricks, McCarthy’s straightforward approach to Ronseal’s management feels exactly what this Cardiff team needed after the Neil Harris era ended in disappointment.

In just over six weeks in charge, McCarthy has won seven and tied three of his ten championship games, a 4-0 loss over Derby County last night, further establishing Cardiff as true contenders for promotion.
So while some at Celtic may be a bit disappointed by claims that suggest the 62-year-old could replace Lennon at Parkhead, especially with a crowd of young and exciting coaches tied to work, it would be foolish to write off McCarthy for this stage.
“Getting 24 points out of a possible 30 is incredible,” says Morrison.
“He came in, tried to stabilize the boat and get us out of the drop zone. It has given the boys a lot of confidence. He has changed his lineup and we have really benefited from that.
“We are scoring goals and we leave them out. We admitted too many silly goals early in the season and now we have a solid foundation to build on.

Giving away goals to the opposition, the absence of any defensive structure and a talented team that plays far worse than the sum of its parts, Cardiff’s early-season struggles will feel eerily familiar to Celtic fans.
If McCarthy was able to solve those problems in South Wales, it’s hard to disprove the theory that he couldn’t do the same in Glasgow.
“The new gaffer is proven. It has for years and years. He’s done an amazing job, put his arm around some guys who needed some confidence, ”adds Morrison.
“We had a massive performance on the field. Mick came in and gave the group a belief and now we’re bouncing off each other.
“I think you can see from the performances that we would die for each other and we are walking through brick walls for the manager.”
McCarthy’s contract expires in the summer, although one imagines if the results keep rolling in an extension it won’t be far behind (Athletic).
