TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS.- Honduran Luis Palma continues to attract suitors in Europe and this time a heavyweight from the Old Continent has fallen: Celtic from Glasgow wants to sign him.
According to the Daily Mail, the Scottish champions have offered 3.5 million pounds, or $4,452,000, for the services of the Aris footballer from Greece.
“Celtic have launched a £3.5m move for coveted Aris Thessaloniki winger Luis Palma. The 23-year-old Honduran international has been closely linked with rival Rangers as a replacement for Ryan Kent,” the prestigious British outlet reported.
Luis Palma scored two goals and made two assists in the four games that Aris played in the previous phase of the UEFA Conference League. In the previous campaign, ‘El Bicho’ from Ceibeño scored 13 goals and 8 assists.
Celtic will participate in the UEFA Champions League in the 2023/24 season, so playing in the group stage of Europe’s top competition would be a huge showcase for the Greek top scorer and figure.
The team led by Irishman Brendan Rodgers let go of their striker Jota in this market and although they have turned to wingers Daniel Podence of Wolverhampton and Ryan Fraser of Newcastle, salaries would be an obstacle, something that Palma does not make it difficult for them.
Palma would be one of the three or four signings that the Scottish team hopes to close before the end of the transfer window on August 31. They have already been reinforced with Australian striker Marco Tilio and South Korean attacker Yang Hyun-jun.
It should be remembered that Celtic Glasgow is where former footballer Emilio Izaguirre became a legend after winning 14 titles in his eight seasons at left-back for Scotland’s biggest club
