Cellou Dalein Diallo continues his American tour. Yesterday Sunday, in New York, he spoke to the displaced supporters, especially undocumented immigrants who had recently arrived in America through Nicaragua.

In his widely praised speech, the leader of the UFDG expressed his feelings about the situation of young people who, he said, risked their lives to leave Guinea. He says he has an idea for everyone who crosses the Mediterranean Sea, the Sahara Desert or even America in search of happiness.

“(…) I met at least this morning (yesterday Sunday, editor’s note) almost 1000 people. Some came to get a picture with their favorite president. I was moved and asked them questions like how did you get here? 98% told me he is from Nicaragua. I was very moved. I was thinking about their parents, their mothers, their fathers. Some of their parents sold everything so they could have between 10 and 15 thousand dollars to help their children leave. Otherwise they love their country, they love their parents and they would like to stay by their side to help them, but they have no way, they don’t work, there is no hope. And for some, they are persecuted because they are UFDG, or sometimes they just belong to an ethnic group that they don’t like. Yes, we must not say, but there are those facts that we cannot keep silent, because we have to deny,” he laughs. “Oh yes! It’s clear, President,” said the crowd in a packed room.

“As you know, our common commitment at the UFDG is to build a united nation where there are equal rights and guaranteed exchange for all children. We want to fight against discrimination in all its forms so that human dignity, regardless of race or party, is not at risk (…),” he promises. Naming who will not passed against the junta slowly in a hurry to leave.
