At the Valledupar High and Medium Security Penitentiary, known as ‘La Tramacúa’, 11 cell phones, 13 without cards, 5 pounds of marijuana and 1 kilo of cocaine were seized. Nine liters of liquor and 20 knives, in an operation carried out by the Military Gaula and the National Police.
These elements were in different cells and patios, where those deprived of liberty are held.
This type of procedure is carried out periodically at the national level in different prisons to counteract the crime of extortion. They also indicated that no people were captured, the authorities said.
It should be remembered that the Ministry of Justice and Law, since July 2023, has been carrying out Operation Domino, which is a strategy to fight corruption, which is part of the Immediate Intervention Plan of the Penitentiary and Prison System. Through this mechanism, registration and control operations are implemented in the country’s detention centers.
