The ballad queen (53) promises to show unknown pages in a new film documentary.
Céline Dion has entered into an agreement with Oscar-nominated director Irene Taylor Brodsky (51). Together, they will dive into the privacy and career of the French-Canadian star.
– I have always been like an open book to my fans, and with Irene’s sensitivity and thoughtful creativity, I think she will be able to show a side of me that no one has seen before, Dion says in the announcement.
– I know she will tell my story in an honest and genuine way, she says about the American director.
Taylor Brodsky sees the task as a big feather in her cap.
– Embarking on this journey with such a legendary artist as Céline Dion, is a unique opportunity for me as a filmmaker, says the 51-year-old, who has also won a number of awards before.
The film documentary has not yet been given a title, but Sony Music Entertainment’s Premium Content department informs Deadline that production has started.
The project is a collaboration between Sony Entertainment Canada and Vermilion Films.
In 2016, Dion became a widow, then her husband and manager René Angelil died of cancer. The couple, who had known each other since she was 12, got married when Dion was 26 and Angelil (52). They have three children together.
Dion is himself one of 14 siblings. It one brother died two days after Angelil passed away. The family has also experienced many other sorrows, which are probably elaborated in the film. But the 53-year-old can also boast a career of the very rare.
