Celebrity Cruises is creating a VR ship in the Metaverse

Celebrity Cruises has built a virtual world called “Wonderverse” where aspiring sailors can explore a hyper-realistic digital recreation of the company’s new ship – Celebrities beyond. Reporting by Jenny Southan

Described as a “first industrialist revolutionary”, Celebrity CruisesWonderful it offers people a taste of what it will be like to sail aboard the tip Celebrities beyond cruise ship.

Once connected to the Wonderverse, consumers will be able to move from space to space, enjoying immersive and interactive content along the way as they learn more about the ship and the destinations it can sail to.

The journey begins with a cute user-controlled game up to the magic carpet, which is overhanging the sea. Here, attendees have the opportunity to create their own personalized avatar and enjoy a virtual cocktail or dinner. Next, meta-tourists will head to the Grand Plaza, the social epicenter of Celebrities beyond, which spans three decks with the brand’s signature Martini Bar at the center of it all. This “social lounge first” allows passengers to connect, listen to music, enjoy Celebrity’s iconic Martini Bar Flair Show, and chat with an avatar of Celebrity CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo.

Attendees will then be transported to the resort deck, where they will be personally greeted by an avatar of Captain Kate, who is on hand to help answer questions, and Nate Berkus – Celebrity’s Edge® Series Travel Ambassador and designer of the Sunset Bar on Celebrities over). Here visitors can relax on the sun loungers, dive into the pool or have a drink at the bar.

Not only will the Wonderverse provide access to a VR cruise ship, but some of the destinations Celebrity sails to, including Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier in Alaska; Santorini in Greece; Tokyo and Mount Fuji; and the beaches of Santa Lucia.

Why did Celebrity invest in the Wonderverse? Acting as a gateway to the real world, the Wonderverse will allow customers to book vacations directly from the metaverse. Built in collaboration with virtual event platform architects Surreal eventsCelebrity’s Wonderverse includes mini-games and activities, entertainment and secret surprises called “Easter Eggs”.
