Celebrity chef Jeong Chang-wook, who was accused of threatening and assaulting a colleague, received a partial reduction in his sentence in the second trial, but was unable to avoid imprisonment this time.
Today (27th), Seoul Central District Court Criminal Appeal Division 8-1 sentenced Chef Chang-wook Jeong, who was indicted on charges of special threats, to four months in prison, a reduced sentence from the original trial.
The court announced that it decided to reduce the sentence considering the fact that each person deposited 30 million won and the fact that he admitted to all crimes.
Mr. Chang-wook Jeong was indicted without detention on charges of assaulting his colleagues A and B and threatening them by pointing a weapon at them because he was angry after completing a YouTube filming in Hawaii in August last year.
After the incident became known, Chang-wook Jeong apologized through his YouTube channel’s community bulletin board, saying, “It was clearly my fault. I offer my deepest apologies to the parties involved. The fear and devastation the two people must have experienced at the time cannot be estimated.”
The first trial court sentenced Chang-wook Jeong to 10 months in prison.
