Celebrities solicit donations: crowdfunding campaign collects money for tablets in Berlin after school breaks – Berlin

It was a break-in that not only caused economic damage, but above all hit needy children hard: Strangers stole 242 freshly delivered tablets with a value of around 100,000 euros from the Willy Brandt School in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen. Now Berliners want to help with a fundraising campaign.

On the online platform “Betterplace” A campaign to raise money for replacement devices started pretty quickly after the fact. By Saturday noon, almost 4,000 euros had already been raised.

The action was brought into being by RBB meteorologist Frank Abel. He “couldn’t stand it,” wrote Abel on Twitter, which is why he started the campaign. Celebrities like presenter Micky Beisenherz support the campaign and solicit donations. On Twitter, pianist Igor Levit wrote: “I think the school should be supported in buying new ones. I’m in, who else?”
