According to P4 Stockholm, the hacker group demands ten million kroner in ransom to remove the information and not publish more.
63,000 leaked documents
Schibsted’s cyber security department can confirm that there are approximately 63,000 documents with sensitive information behind the paywall. The pro-Russian hacker group Medusa is behind the attack.
These documents include bills, documents about construction projects, e-mails and vaccination documents. In addition, there is sensitive information about staff – including photos.
– Everything is largely available. It looks bad, says Bernard Helou, head of Schibsted’s cyber security department.
Sophiahemmet: old membership list
In a press release from Sophiahemmet, it is written that the leaked information about celebrities is out of date and comes from an old membership list.
Furthermore, it is written that intensive work is underway to identify what additional information has been stolen. This takes place in collaboration with the police and IT security experts.
“The main record system used is unaffected because it is located in a separate data environment outside Sophiahemmet,” the press release states.
Overload attack against the Swedish Tax Agency
Several Swedish authorities and companies have had major problems in recent days. Yesterday, the websites of several organizations were down, including the Swedish Customs Service, the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority, Försäkringskassan and Kronofogden.
The Swedish Privacy Agency and the Swedish Competition Authority were exposed to load attacks that a pro-Russian hacker group claims to be behind. At 16:30 on Wednesday, the Privacy Protection Authority’s website is down.
Since 12.50 today, the Tax Agency has experienced major problems after being exposed to an overload attack.
“Right now there may be problems logging into some e-services and My Pages due to an ongoing overload attack”the website says.
The Swedish Tax Agency has no forecast for when it might be over at the moment.
– It has become everyday for both companies and authorities and are things we have to work towards. We do everything to be as resilient as possible, says Peter Karlsson, the Swedish Tax Agency’s head of IT operations.
– I am the first to regret the problem.
