Celebrities’Friends’ star Courteney Cox (59) says she regrets having fillers placed in her face at a young age. She felt “the pressure to stay young in the TV sector” and was tempted by various cosmetic procedures. “There was actually no need for that.”
Courteney became world famous thanks to her role as Monica in ‘Friends’, but she was adamant that her fame would disappear overnight if she showed signs of aging. “I was terrified of wrinkles,” she says in ‘Woman’ magazine. “So I started with fillers. That happened in small amounts, and I didn’t realize that it had started a chain reaction.”
As time went on, she had more and more procedures performed, until she no longer recognized herself. “You don’t see it immediately, because it happens gradually. But people who saw me in photos saw my face completely transform until I no longer looked like myself. It took me a while to realize that I actually looked very strange with such a processed face.”
“It was a domino effect,” she sighs. “There’s so much pressure on you to stay looking young that once you start, it’s very hard to stop. And that was a shame, because I was very young and didn’t need any fillers at all. I wish I had never done it.”
In 2017, she had all the fillers in her face dissolved and decided to age naturally. “I now realize there is nothing wrong with that,” she says. Although she still sometimes has a hard time with her age. “I can’t believe my next birthday will be my 60th… Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but time has gone by so quickly.”
