Special praise from the new coach
It’s logical that the Californians were generally satisfied with Celebrini’s debut, despite the loss to the 2023 Stanley Cup champions. Coach Ryan Warsofsky, who replaced David Quinn behind the Sharks’ bench in June, specifically praised the young striker: “He was good, had a lot of strong moves with the puck. The goal in particular gave him even more momentum. He’s on the right track.”
Home fans impress Celebrini
The fans in the arena immediately felt a bit of the magic that they hope to see more often from their young star in the future. The end result was quickly forgotten by many. Celebrini himself was extremely pleased with the day’s experiences. “It was really cool to be able to play in front of our fans for the first time. It took a while for me to get used to the ice, but after a few minutes I felt very comfortable. In the end, it was kind of a normal ice hockey game. Even though it wasn’t sold out, I really enjoyed being able to play in front of this great crowd,” was his conclusion.
When asked about the team’s bumpy start in the first two periods, the preseason debutant explained: “This team has undergone a lot of changes over the summer. The new squad has to get used to things first. Nothing works perfectly right away. But I’m confident that we will improve quickly. This is a great team here and I have high hopes for the future.”
