For us this is a day of great celebration.
Party for women too dozens of associations and feminists from all over the world -Stop Surrogacy Now, Ciams, Finnrage, Women’s Declaration International, Japan Coalition Against Surrogacy, Feminist Legal Clinic, Prostitution Research & Education, Finaargit, Jennifer Lahl, Pyllis Chesler, Gena Corea, Sylviane Agacinski and many others – who supported us together And awaited with great hope the law on the rented womb “universal crime”, finally approved today also in the Senate, understood as a possible model for legislation of all countries.
A long battle, lasting a decade: publications such as “The soul of the body. Against the rented womb” by Luisa Muraro, and “Temporary Mother. Womb for rent and child market” by Marina Terragni, both from 2016, up to the most recent “Surrogacy, womb for rent, gestation for others (GPA)” signed in 2023 by our Network for the Inviolability of the Female Body in addition to dozens of other writings and many mobilizations.
A bitter battle, fought for the dignity of women and the good of girls and boys, which has cost us ostracism, stigma and political isolation precisely from that left from whose ranks the large part of us come, mocked and defined as bigoted, residual, reactionary, homotransphobic for our motivatedly contrary position.
We cannot therefore forget how every attempt at dialogue on this topic, with very few exceptions, has been rejected with absolute contempt by the secretaries, rights managers and women spokespersons of the left-wing parties.
But we cannot fail to underline that once again #fightingserves
