World Mental Health Day was celebrated in the streets of San Sebastián de los Reyes with joy, batucada and a protest march. The festive nature of this commemoration is the best way to change prejudices and avoid stigmas regarding mental illness.
The march left from different points in Alcobendas and San Sebastián de los Reyes to reach the Miraflores Mental Health Center, on España Avenue, where it concluded with the reading of a manifesto.
Several groups joined the march, including the association of older people AMAPACI and the students of the IES Joan Miró, who showed their posters on Mental Health, the result of a school project.
Resources and visibility were the main demands, but also empathy, integration and respect for a group to which anyone can belong at some point in their life.
