Celebrating Valentine’s Day safely

Valentine’s Day may be a little different this year, but there are still plenty of ways to
celebrate and decrease the risk of spreading the virus that causes COVID-19.

  • Send Valentine’s cards to family and friends telling them how much you love them.
  • Write a thank you letter to someone special in your life.
  • Decorate your home with Valentine decorations.
  • Send flowers to your loved ones.
  • Prepare a special dinner with the people in your home.
  • Plan a feast of takeout from local restaurants with the people in your household.

If you have gatherings with people outside your home, you and your guests can lower your risk of spreading the new coronavirus by:

  • Carry out the celebrations outdoors.
  • Open doors and windows if they stay inside.
  • Limit the number of people who meet.
  • Wear face covers.
  • Practice physical distancing and stay at least 6 feet away from others, especially when eating and drinking.
  • Ask guests to bring their own food, drinks, plates, glasses, and utensils.
  • Avoid singing or yelling.
  • Handwashing.
  • Share cards and love notes instead of sweets and food.
