The International Soccer Hall of Fame held its 12th Induction Ceremony.
At a gala held at the Roberto Plascencia Saldaña Bicentennial Theater, Mexicans Rodrigo Pony Ruiz, Ricardo Peláez, Hernán Cristante and Omar Bravo were awarded.
“I had a very privileged and dignified career. One goes back to one’s dreams, one’s origins. My desire was always to be a professional footballer,” said Bravo.
At international level, the award was received by David Beckham, Oliver Khan, Juan Román Riquelme, Iván Zamorano, Diego Simeone and José Luis Chilavert.
“It is wonderful for me to be here. I am very grateful to the people of Mexico for their respect and affection. These are wonderful moments that one will never forget,” said Riquelme.
The ceremony was attended by some former directors of the Mexican Football Federation such as Justino Compeán and Enrique Bonilla. Former players such as Jorge Campos, Carlos Salcido and Hugo Sánchez also attended.
Olympic medalists Osmar Olvera and Juan Celaya also attended as guests.
In the women’s branch, Esther Mora and Kristine Lilly were distinguished.
