The Ministry of Health of Mexico City (SEDESA), in coordination with the Decentralized Public Organization (OPD) IMSS-Bienestar, celebrates the first anniversary of the IMSS-Bienestar Cuajimalpa General Hospital, the first hospital unit in the capital to be born under said scheme and with which the transfer of medical services to the Federation began, which since its opening has provided 28,388 care.
“One of the biggest challenges of this administration has been rebuilding the health system. Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, former Head of Government, committed to building a new hospital for the inhabitants of Cuajimalpa; a modern hospital that would meet the health needs of the population and that is how we fulfilled it,” said Dr. Oliva López Arellano, Secretary of Health of the capital.
He pointed out that now, under the leadership of the Head of Government, Martí Batres Guadarrama, the transfer of medical services to the new IMSS-Wellbeing body continues, under three axes: labor justice for health personnel, investment in infrastructure and equipment , and guarantee in the supply of free medicines.
Likewise, the local Health Minister recalled that to replace the Maternal and Child Hospital (abandoned after an explosion in 2015) and build the General Hospital, which began activities on September 28, 2022 and was inaugurated on November 14 of the same year, There was support from the population and an agreement was signed so that the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) could carry out the work in record time, despite the pandemic.
For his part, Dr. Alejandro Ávalos Bracho, state coordinator of the OPD IMSS-Bienestar in Mexico City, highlighted that in its first year the hospital has provided 28,388 total care, including emergencies, studies, consultations and other services.
“A year ago we saw the birth of this first IMSS-Bienestar hospital in Mexico City. Thanks to Dr. Oliva and Dr. Ocaña who have helped us form this great team that will continue each and every one of the processes,” Dr. Ávalos emphasized.
Dr. Luis Rafael López Ocaña, head of the Southern Deconcentrated Administrative Operation Body of Mexico City of the Mexican Social Security Institute, highlighted that thanks to the federalization system, which continues in process, all people without rights will be able to receive medical care. in any of the 34 hospitals in the Mexico City network.
Likewise, Dr. Nazarea Herrera Maldonado, director of the IMSS-Bienestar Cuajimalpa General Hospital, thanked that thanks to the sum of their efforts, the recovery of the hospital was achieved. “Health has no color or party, but it does have dedication and commitment. For all this, I wish a long life for this hospital and those who accompany us here to fulfill our commitments,” she expressed.
Herrera Maldonado highlighted that from January to date, the General Hospital team has attended more than 1,500 hospitalizations and almost 700 surgeries, as well as almost 400 births of babies who have gone home with their mothers.
Finally, SEDESA and all health institutions in Mexico City work to guarantee free, quality medical care for the entire population.
