The Benjumea family, founders of Abengoa, met in France this summer to celebrate the wedding of one of its youngest members. Ignacio is the fourth of the seven children who Javier Benjumea Llorente had as Monica Serra. Javier has a PhD in Economics and, in addition to the position already mentioned at Abengoa, he has served as vice president of Sevillana Endesa and as a director of Telefónica de Argentina. He inherited from his father the title of Marquis of Puebla Cazalla, that Don Juan Carlos granted him, and he is a senior lieutenant of the Royal Maestranza of Cavalry of Seville.

His wife, for her part, is the daughter of the Marquis of San José de Serra and both share one of the maxims of the Benjumea family: discretion above all else and a desire to go unnoticed that has been transferred from generation to generation until it floods the current one.

Daughter of Irene Gilliéron and Plan de Sieyesthe 33-year-old bride arrived as scheduled at the church on the arm of her father and best man, Fernando de Escoriaza Quijano. she did it with an elegant white classic cut dress signed by Diego Estrada and made up of two pieces, one of them a bolero-style jacket with embroidery to match the dress on the neck and long sleeves with which it was sober and timeless. Her head, touched with a veil that covered her face and was attached with a discreet comb to the bow that gathered her dark hair at medium height.

A design that fit perfectly with the aesthetics of the wedding, traditional in style. The godmother, Mónica Serra, came accompanying her son, in a wheelchair, wearing a long-sleeved strawberry-colored dress that she combined with mantilla and black comb as mandated by the strictest protocol. The same was true of the groom and his witnesses, who all wore a classic morning suit made up of a black frock coat, a light gray vest and pinstripe pants and top hat.

All the brothers of the bride and groom played a more or less important role during the ceremony.. She was already taking charge of the readings of the ceremony, as well as acting as witnesses and helping the bride to place the train of her dress every time she moved from her place so that she would appear impeccable in the photos. Eleanor has three siblings: James, Sebastian and Michaela. He studied at the Ferney-Voltaire International Lyceum (France) and later graduated in Psychology at Icade. He completed a master’s degree in Psychology in Paris and, although he has worked outside of Spain, he currently has a private practice in Madrid. Leonor likes horses, a hobby that she shares with her husband, who is affectionately called Tacho and that in the past he was a polo player, and hooks them like a large part of his family.

The fact that they got married in France is a novelty for the Benjumea-Serra family. Ignacio’s parents, Javier Benjumea and Mónica Serra, were married on February 19, 1978 in the chapel of the Immaculate Conception in Guadalmina (Marbella). And his already married brothers —Paloma, who despite being the youngest of the sisters married Juan de la Mora y Piñeyro in 2011, at the age of 22, and Alfredo, who married Blanca Möller Andrada-Vanderwilde in 2020. — They also did it in Spain. But, as tradition dictates, the bride is the one who decides where the wedding takes place, and Leonor has chosen one of the most beautiful places in France.
