Latvian legendary film director Jānis Streičs at different times
The team of the program “Pasaki To Skaļi” has gone to the Lithuanian city of Kaunas, where the legendary Latvian film director is currently staying. Janis Streichs. He celebrates his 87th anniversary and tells how he celebrates these holidays.
“Perhaps everyone needs to be explained. Now there are rumors in Latvia that Streičs works in the Kaunas musical, but this is not the case. I am here as a spectator, a fan, because my daughter and my son-in-law work here,” says Streich, starting a conversation with Elina and Roberto.
Answering the question of how he usually celebrates his birthdays, he says that he is generally skeptical about celebrating because you have to set “those tables, those tables”, but he tells a funny case when he celebrated his round 70th birthday.
“When I was 70, I woke up in Riga, stretched my arms up, and thought – no one will ever write that Streich died young!” – laughs the director.
Now that he is already celebrating his 87th birthday, he agrees that it is actually a gift from God, also that he is in good health.
