The history of the Japanese game series NieR began back in 2010 when the first part was released, when Square Enix and the studio tried to launch a spin-off of the Drakengard franchise. The launch was hardly smooth; however, after the release of Nier: Automata and the remake of NieR Replicant, it was able to gain cult status in the community thanks to its unique post-apocalyptic world, amazing story and dynamic combat mechanics. Today is the official anniversary of the franchise – the NieR series is just 14 years old.
In honor of this event, a small message from the developers appeared on all official NieR pages on social networks. The authors of the game congratulated the players on this important day, which brought many new emotions to them and the users. The team thanked the players for their constant support and the creativity of the fans, whose creativity never ceases to amaze. Unfortunately, this is where the appeal ended; the developers did not share their plans for the development of the series. Fans can only continue to follow that recent news and hope rumors about a third they were at least partly true.
Today also marks the 3rd anniversary of the release of NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…, an updated version of the first game. Yoko Taro, the creator of the series, joined the congratulatory press and thanked the players for their close attention. Judging by his recent posts, he can’t believe that his creation was able to survive for so long, as there is very high competition from other franchises.
