Celebrating the 146th Anniversary of Bulgaria’s Liberation – Schedule of Events and Ceremonies in Plovdiv on March 3

With a prayer service in the cathedral church “Holy Virgin Mary”, served by H.V.Pr. Metropolitan Nikolay of Plovdiv at 11:00 a.m., a solemn celebration in front of the monument to the Russian liberators of Bunardjika at 12:00 p.m., a memorial service for the heroes who died for the freedom of Bulgaria at the militia monument at the Central Cemetery at 1:30 p.m., the 146th anniversary will be celebrated in Plovdiv from the Liberation from Ottoman rule and National Holiday of Bulgaria – March 3.

The official speech will be delivered by Lyubozar Fratev – honorary citizen of Plovdiv. The presenter will be one of the best reciters in Bulgaria – Hristo Hristov.

In the ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at 12.00, a representative platoon, wreath-bearers, a military brass band and the “Patriotism” committee will take part. And this year, before the start of the solemn celebration, the members of the “Patriotism” committee will once again lead the people of Plovdiv in the “Walk of freedom” – a procession to the top of Bunardjika, led by replicas of the flags of the Bulgarian militia.

During the day, on the occasion of the holiday, the municipality of Plovdiv organized two concerts with free admission for Plovdiv residents and guests of the city. You can hear a festive concert of Big Band Plovdiv, conductor Nikolay Geshev and soloist Edith Unjiyan at 1:00 p.m. at Stefan Stambolov Square. The official speech will be delivered by Major General Yavor Mateev – commander of the “Joint Special Operations Command” of the Bulgarian Army. The announcer will be the actor from the Plovdiv Drama Theater – Petar Toskov.
