International Book Day will take place this Sunday, April 23, on Condes de Abona street, with the aim of encouraging reading and promoting the work of local writers, a meeting with writers and the presentation of different books is proposed.
The activities will be held throughout the day with entertainment, storytelling and music. Interested people will be able to meet authors and attend their signatures. It will be attended by Helen Rytkönen, Gregorio Sosa, Ana Robles, Víctor del Pino, Elena Villamandos, Teodoro Ndomo, Idaira Martín, Carlos Espinosa, MariCris Rodríguez Hernández, Raquel Reyes, Luisa Chico, Cristina García Carballo, Arely Rivero Díaz, Rosario Lopez, Jose Luis Regojo, Isabel Vidal, Feliz Diaz, Rosa Galdona, and Miguel Diaz.
At the same time, at 12:00 noon, in the Cine Viejo Cultural Space, families will be able to enjoy the family theater “De fábula”, where they will be able to discover a magical world where the animals of fables discover a thousand lessons. Daniel, Cristina, Fabiola and the tree of fables reveal the morals of The Hare and the Tortoise, The Cicada and the Ant, The Lion and the Mouse and many more. Each fable is an adventure, a learning experience. The production and executive direction is managed by Virginia Acosta Sánchez and the artistic cast is made up of Mingo Ávila, Thania Gil, Guacimara Gil and Alberto Sánchez Luis from the Canary Islands.
Libraries are alive in Villa Mariana all year round, so on Thursday the 27th, the Youth Zone of Punta Larga hosts the presentation of the book “La pandilla del ave fénix” by José Alberto González Tejera, with the participation of Octavio Rodríguez, Official Chronicler of Candelaria. In addition, the puppet tour “The book festival” continues through the libraries, starting at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday the 27th it is the turn of Las Cuevecitas and on Friday the 28th, the Cultural Center of the Villa.
The Candelaria City Council intends to create inclusive and accessible spaces for the whole family, therefore, starting in May, an area called “Bebeteca” will be put into operation in the library of the Zona Joven de Punta Larga where families can enjoy specialized spaces for all ages, since this new space will be for babies, with specific material and furniture, a breastfeeding area and adapted bibliographic collections. A space 100% connected with the rest of the children’s and adult library, so that all literary activity comes together in coexistence and in an intergenerational way.
