Celebrating Hispanic Contributions: José Sánchez and the Latino Community in East Texas

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana (Telemundo Shreveport) — Hispanic Heritage Month honors the cultures and diverse contributions of both Hispanics and Latinos in the United States. At Telemundo Shreveport, along with our sister television station KSLA, we celebrate this contribution by highlighting members of our community not only from Shreveport but from ArkLaTex, which encompasses portions of northwest Louisiana, northeast Texas and Arkansas.

José Sánchez was born in Mexico City and immigrated to East Texas in 1981 as an undocumented immigrant. He was raised in Longview and attended school in the Spring Hill Independent School District where he graduated from high school second in his class.

After graduating from Texas A&M University, José attended Texas Tech Law School. In 2005, he opened his office in Longview under the name Jose Sanchez Law Firm.

José handles injury cases, immigration cases, and helps grow the Latino community in East Texas. In 2006, he organized and led the Immigration March in Tyler, which was recognized by The New York Times.

José travels across the United States and meets with national leaders in their fight for immigration reform. He has a Spanish-language radio show in East Texas, where he shares legal advice, news and policies affecting the Latino community.
