Celebrates with touching recognition. What have you done

Today I honored Thomas Woodrow Wilson with flowers.

This is what Slavi Trifonov wrote on Facebook.

Here is what he says:

I don’t like monuments. It seems to me that a monument must be what you did. And the bigger it is, the more people talk about it. Generation after generation. This is the real monument.

But there is a monument in Sofia, on which I laid flowers today. Because people don’t talk much about the person immortalized on him. And this man must be talked about. Generation after generation. There must be a memory of his work.

This man is not a Bulgarian, but he has done so much for Bulgaria that he is a Bulgarian. His name is Thomas Woodrow Wilson – the 28th President of the United States. Today marks the 98th anniversary of his death. Why is this man so important for Bulgaria?

After the First World War, we are on the side of the lost countries, which gives our neighbors a reason to make murderous territorial claims against Bulgaria. The plan of Greece, supported by Serbia and Romania, is to erase the Kingdom of Bulgaria and tear it into three areas, subordinated to Greece, Serbia and Romania.

The plan actually means the liquidation of Bulgaria as a state. This proposal met with strong opposition from US President Thomas Woodrow Wilson.

He personally attended the peace conference in France and insisted that the principle of ethnic self-determination of territories in the post-war system, proclaimed by him, be respected. And he does not accept, for example, Belgrade’s claims to receive more than 13,000 square kilometers. area from Bulgaria.

Woodrow Wilson said: “I would rather leave the conference than agree to the division of a nation into an independent state and a century-old past.”

This is the man on whose monument I brought flowers today. It’s nothing, but it would be good if there were more flowers on the monument.
